Join us at CIS on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 for our first IB Night of the 2016-17 school year!
We will start the night off with a 5:00pm-5:30pm meeting of our Houses! Come and hear what it’s all about, and if you are new, find out what house your family will join! This is a great opportunity to meet with other house members, pick your sponsored event for the year as well as talk about community service efforts!
At 5:30pm, go to your child’s classroom to find out great information about our IB program and how your teachers teach their units.
PYP will offer 2 redundant sessions, one at 5:30pm and one at 6:00pm. This is an attempt to accommodate families with multiple PYP students. The information will be the same in both sessions.
MYP will offer short 10-15 minutes sessions following your child’s bell schedule! Meet their teachers and see what great things are happening in the classrooms!
- 5:00pm House Meeting
- 5:30pm PYP Session
- 5:30pm MYP Session (See the schedule below for MYP)
- 6:00pm PYP Session repeated
This is a great opportunity to learn first hand what CIS classes are all about! We encourage EVERY family to attend. This is not an opportunity to speak with the teacher about your child’s grades or performance or school work–we encourage you to email teachers directly to set up an appointment to discuss specifics about your student’s situation. Establishing a time to do this allows teachers the opportunity to give your concerns the full attention and confidentiality they deserve.
House meetings and curriculum night will take place Tuesday 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. After the CIS house meetings, which take place 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm, in the MPR, MYP will proceed with curriculum night. Parents will have the opportunity to view their student’s work and to put a face with teachers’ names.
Classroom visits will be ten minutes long and will follow your child’s grade level. (If you have two MYP students, choose one, as you will still meet all of their teachers.) This will allow you to see the learning spaces CIS offers your child/children. Course specific information will be presented along with sample pieces of work.
We hope to see everyone there!
