Individuals & Societies Grade 9 â€“ World History
This week students have started to explore the Columbian Exchange and the Exploration of the Americas. BeginningÂ 1/20/2014, students will lead their own investigations into historical development of the slave trade. Using â€œFairness and Developmentâ€ as our Global Context, students will write essays on the development of human rights during this time period. Reading covers Chapter 20 and 22.

Grade 9 (Y4)
Students comparative religion essays are due on Monday 11.18.2013. After this, we begin Feudalism and the European Middle Ages. Students will be reading chapter 13 from the text books and we will be doing a project on Feudalism. Directions for the project will be distributed next week.

We will be completing our unit on Monotheistic / World Religions. StudentsÂ will have a compare and contrast essay due on Friday comparing 2 of theÂ major world religions of their choosing.

Grade 9 (Y4): World History
After a short hiatus in which we explored China for international day, we will continue our texts by reading Chapter 10: The Muslim World (600-1250AD). We will continue our time lines of monotheistic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and now Islam) by exploring Islam in this unit.
Students will be work on a historical/cultural project for International Day that involves China, our area of focus. No reading from the text book will be assigned for this week.
