Overview of Enrichment Program
Enrichment at CIS is designed to integrate IEP goals with the IB framework in an inclusive setting. Our class is largely project based, but also includes discussions, current events, reflection and creative opportunities. The program details change each year depending on general education curriculum, student need and our ever-changing global culture. Explore age specific programs below.
Special Education and Gifted Advisory Committees will be held during scheduled CIS events such as IB Night or Science Night, so stop by and check out news and updates to the Gifted program.
The goal of the enrichment classroom is to integrate complex subject matter within the context of whole-child focused skill building. The APS Gifted Strands are the framework that support learning and understanding skills for the dynamic thinker and guide our creative project development.
- Self Understanding
Students will learn to develop a good understanding of his/her strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. He/she will develop a sense of personal responsibility and behavioral management styles.
- Interpersonal Skills
Students will learn to use appropriate skills to organize and work effectively in a group. He/she will develop skills in leaderships, conflict resolution, negotiation, cooperation and teamwork.
- Thinking Skills
Students will use various thinking processes to generate ideas and to solve problems. This includes critical thinking skills, decision making skills, problem solving, and logic. He/she will use analysis, synthesis, and evaluation to achieve a desire outcome.
- Creativity
Students will creative thinking which includes fluency (generating many ideas), flexibility (generating ideas different from each other), and originality ( risk taking when generating new ideas).
- Interest Development
Student will engage in a wide range of interests and topics while exploring career interests. He/she will become aware of the global community.
- Communication
Students will learn to effectively communicate both orally and written. He/she will develop discussion skills to impact interactions with each other.
- Independent Learner
Students will build skills to become a life-long learner.
- Advanced Knowledge
Students will progress and perform at their academic abilities.
