CIS AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS

Kimberly Romero – Athletic Director

Please note: Physicals are mandatory/required by the league. Physicals are valid for one academic school year. A new Physical is required every school year. You do not need to get a new physical for each sport you play. It is required that physicals be completed on a CIS form or they will not be accepted. Please request this form by emailing romerok@corralesis.org prior to seeing your child’s pediatrician.

**After-School Clubs:

**Different from league sports. If you are interested in hosting an after-school club please contact Mark Tolley at tolleym@corralesis.org or Ana Perea at pereaa@corralesis.org. Thank you

MYP SPORTS Corrales International School offers a variety of sports options for students in middle and high school. NMAA Requirements must be met to be eligible to play. Grade checks are done frequently and reported to the school’s Head Coach and/or Athletic Director of the school your child is participating with.

Middle School (MS): We are currently offering Co-ed Flag Football, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Co-ed Soccer, Boys Volleyball, Girls Volleyball and Esports (8th-12th grades). Options can change from year to year. Facility availability, coach availability and student interest determine if a sport will be offered.

High School (HS): Students interested in High School sports may try out for and play any sport their home high school offers, (contact school’s athletics department for tryout dates) or they have the choice of playing with a High School Charter team that is participating in our league. If playing with the charter school league, please note that options can change from year to year. Facility availability, coach availability and student interest determine if a sport will be offered.

Corrales International School and the Albuquerque Charter School League follow NMAA guidelines. All middle and high school students are required to have a minimum 2.0 GPA, no ‘F’ grades, and have positive behavior at school to qualify to play. Grades and behavior are checked frequently prior to and during the current season to determine eligibility.

Students and families are provided information at the beginning of the school year at our annual Open House as well as provided an opportunity to sign up and receive information in their LIT classes prior to each season. If a student signs up to play, information is sent home via email as soon as it is received from the league. We are usually only provided two weeks notice prior to a season start, therefore, getting paperwork (physical, code of conduct, potential risk), completed as early as possible is highly recommended. Esports is the only sport that does not require a physical. All other paperwork is required. You may also contact Mrs. Romero at romerok@corralesis.org if you have any further questions.
